Speed and reliability

The app got noticeably faster this month, especially on iOS — regatta detail pages, schedules, standings, and finish entry all load quicker thanks to backend changes that combine several data requests into one and add smarter caching. Pull-to-refresh on the All Events screen now forces a true reload instead of showing stale cached data. We also fixed a production issue where Stripe payment webhooks were failing silently — payment confirmations and related emails are processing normally again.

Fleet Wrapped

Fleets now get a shareable “Wrapped” year-in-review — a story-style recap of a fleet’s season, reachable from any fleet’s profile page and shareable with members.

New scoring options

Organizers can now choose how DNS/DNF/OCS/RET/DSQ/DNC penalties are scored, from the regatta Settings page or the gear icon on the Races tab, with worked examples for each option:

• Starting area (default): non-finishers score boats-at-the-line + 1; no-shows (DNC) score series entries + 1.
• Series entries: every penalty, including DNS, scores series entries + 1.
• Boats started: DNS and DNC now score identically — boats that actually started + 1 — so a no-show can never score better than a boat that checked in but didn’t start.
• Day turnout (new): matches how many clubs run paper scoresheets — non-finishers score (boats that raced that day) + 1.

Changing the setting immediately rescores all published races so standings update right away. We also fixed a bug where changing a finish’s code (for example DNC to DNS) didn’t always recalculate points — the old points could stick — on both the website and API. Separately, a high-point scoring bug where DNS boats were counted as if they’d started, artificially inflating field size and winners’ scores, is fixed, and race “unpublish,” which had been throwing an error, works again.

Late entries now score correctly

Adding a boat to a regatta after races have already been scored used to leave its scoring incomplete. The system now automatically backfills DNC results for that boat across already-scored races, with a confirmation prompt before applying.

Score history and schedule views

Score history charts now have a Net/Total toggle — Net (matching the standings table) applies drops, Total doesn’t. The fleet schedule list view now separates events currently underway into a “Happening now” section above upcoming events.

Series scoring

A new Series regatta type lets clubs run an overall season alongside date-bounded sub-series, each with its own scoring method — including a new high-point-percentage option (points earned ÷ points possible) — its own discard rules, and a minimum-races-to-qualify rule (as a count or percentage). Admins get automatic daily standings and a one-click “mark unscored boats as DNC” action.

Native iOS Social tab

Signed-in sailors on iOS now have a dedicated Social tab: a feed of activity from followed fleets and sailors, a Discover section, sailor/boat/fleet profiles, and a fleet directory. You can follow fleets and regattas, search for sailors — including ones who haven’t claimed a profile yet, matched from race results — and view podium results for external events in-app.

Also this month (early July)

Admins can invite new admins by email even without an existing RegattaHub account. Quick-add entry creation is now available on iOS. And we fixed a bug in the admin Archived Events list.

Personalized recommendations and Sailor Wrapped

Sailors with a profile now see up to five personalized regatta recommendations — based on regattas they’ve sailed before, familiar competitors, home venue, and boat class — each with a plain-language reason and a direct registration link. We also launched Sailor Wrapped, a shareable, story-style recap of a sailor’s own season with a downloadable share image, alongside dedicated sailor profile pages and a new home-port field during setup. Team racing organizers can now regenerate Swiss-round pairings directly instead of restarting the round.

Team roles and admin permissions

Organizers can now assign Scorer and Protest/Umpire Committee roles to team members directly from the app — previously only Super Admin was assignable from the product itself. The admin dashboard now shows a focused set of tabs based on your role, so Scorers and Protest Committee members see just what’s relevant to them, and a bug that could show Protest Committee members an incorrect “Access Denied” error on the dashboard is fixed. Scorers can also now publish all of a regatta’s results at once instead of one race at a time.

Reliability push

A broad batch of fixes landed for team racing, sign-in, and results display: match/Swiss racing events could get stuck mid-setup and fail to publish; a signed-out or expired session could get stuck showing repeated errors instead of cleanly signing you out, and briefly show you as signed out right after a page loaded even with a valid session; races run on the same day could appear out of order in results; regatta names were getting cut off on the Home page; and some organizations’ active external billing subscriptions weren’t being recognized correctly. On iOS, “File a Protest” no longer shows on team/match racing events where it doesn’t apply, a bug that could incorrectly show “Unauthorized” on certain team racing events is fixed, and a score-history chart crash on first load is resolved. We also expanded automatic retry for flaky connections to more of the app, particularly helpful on Safari.

Sail numbers now sort in correct numeric order — not alphabetically — everywhere they appear across the app and public pages: entries, scratch sheets, check-in, boat picker, scoring tie-breaks, results history, and the public entries list. Fleet pages also now correctly show a boat’s finish for past regattas scored under a handicap system (PHRF/IRC/ORC) instead of incorrectly showing results as unavailable.

iOS Social tab expansion

Building on the native iOS Social tab launched earlier this month, boat profiles now list everyone who’s skippered or crewed the boat, with their role, race count, and last-sailed date, tapping through to their sailor profile. Boat search adds a dedicated “Boats” scope alongside sailor search.

Better search visibility

Regatta and fleet pages now get their own server-rendered title, description, and preview image, plus correct sitemap and robots entries in production — previously every page served identical, generic metadata, which caused search engines to fold individual regatta and fleet pages into the homepage instead of surfacing them directly. We also fixed a sitemap bug where a pagination limit caused all but the first roughly 1,000 of our ~12,000 fleet pages to be silently dropped from the sitemap, meaning most fleets were invisible to search engines until now.
