How to score a medal race in RegattaHub
A medal race is a final race for the leading boats that counts extra and decides the order at the top. In RegattaHub you choose the race and who sails it; by default it scores double, cannot be discarded, and its boats rank above every boat that did not sail it.

In the Olympic-style format, the leading boats after the opening series sail one final race worth double points. The medal race decides the order at the top, and nobody who didn't sail it can finish above someone who did. RegattaHub scores this exactly, with defaults that follow the usual World Sailing format; check them against your sailing instructions.
Set up the medal race
- Add the medal race to the class's schedule as a normal race.
- Open Advanced scoring settings, choose the class, then Medal race. It reads No medal race until you turn it on.
- Choose This class ends with a medal race, and pick the race under Medal race.
- Under Who sails it, choose Top N boats after the opening series (10 by default), or Choose the boats and tick them.
- Set Points ×: 2 by default, anything above 0 up to 10.
- Under Boats that don't finish score, keep One more than the number of medal race boats (the usual rule) or choose Their usual penalty score.
- Under Counts in, keep Overall standings or pick a series.
- Press Save & rescore.
The sentence at the top spells out the rule, for example: R8 is the medal race: the top 5 boats after the opening series sail it, it scores double and cannot be discarded, and its sailors finish ahead of every boat that did not sail it.
What the results show
- A Medal column, marked ×2 under the heading. Boats not in the medal race show a dash.
- Before the medal race is sailed, a line under the qualifying boats: Boats above this line qualify for the medal race.
- After it is scored, the line reads Boats above this line sailed the medal race and rank ahead of every boat below it. Medal boats are ranked on opening-series net plus medal points; everyone else keeps their opening-series order below the line.
- A note explains the medal race under the results, for example Medal race: its boats score ×2 and rank above the line.
Public results show the same column, line and notes. They are coming to the RegattaHub iPhone app too.

Scoring and publishing the medal race
Enter the medal race's finishes in finish entry and publish, like any race. A medal boat that doesn't start or finish scores one more than the number of medal boats (before doubling), unless you chose Their usual penalty score. If two medal boats tie on total, the better medal race score ranks higher; if still tied, the better opening-series place.
Publishing fixes the medal boats. Once the medal race is published, the boats in it are recorded, so a later protest or correction in the opening series can't move the line. Unpublishing the medal race releases them.
More options (Sailwave compatibility)
Under More options, for sailing instructions that differ from the standard format:
- Medal score can be discarded (off by default).
- Medal race breaks ties between its boats (on by default).
- Counts toward the number of discards (off by default: discards are counted on the opening series only).
- Boats not in the medal race: Not scored in it (default), or Scored DNC (entries + 1), like Sailwave, with their own points multiplier and whether that score can be discarded or breaks ties.
